Matt Anniss is an author, journalist and dance music archivist based in Bristol. He has been writing about electronic music culture for over two decades, first as a long serving staff member at IDJ magazine (firstly as Music Editor and later Deputy Editor and Editor) and for the last decade as a freelancer. During that time, his articles have been showcased by Red Bull Music Academy, Resident Advisor, DJ Magazine, Mixmag and Juno Plus, amongst others. He recently wrote a history of electronic music in Leeds for the Inner City Electronic magazine. As an author, Matt has written numerous books for children and adults, including The Vinyl Owners Manual for Haynes Publishing (2017). His next book, Join The Future, explores the bleep techno movement that emerged from Yorkshire at the end of the 1980s, arguing that it sowed the seeds of British dance music’s ongoing love affair with sub-bass.
